Pennsylvania Supreme Court Upholds "Dunham Rule" regarding oil and gas titles.

On April 24, 2013, Pennsylvania’s highest court decided a case from Susquehanna County questioning a rule of law stating that references to “minerals” in deed reservations and grants do not necessarily include oil and gas rights in Pennsylvania.

The Supreme Court’s ruling confirms long standing principles of Pennsylvania Law and settles questions regarding the ownership of natural gas associated with the Marcellus Shale.
